RANDOM acts of kindness can transform lives.
I was talking to someone this week who, as an elderly person, remarked how impressed they were by their neighbours’ children who brought in their garbage bins for them.
Another conversation with a family told me about how in a time of great stress from juggling the needs of a sick child, others came to support them with cooked meals.
I believe we can all recount some of these stories where kindness has cut through the everyday business to lift someone’s burden. However, it’s good to celebrate them.
That’s why in this week’s column, in addition to promoting the upcoming National Volunteer Week, I want to give a platform for us to “shout out” our thanks and appreciation for those who care for others.
This year’s theme for National Volunteer Week (May 21-28) is “Give a little. Change a lot” and I’ve seen great changes across our community thanks to the generosity of others.
