Cocktail party fundraiser
THE Sunshine Coast community is being called on to throw their support behind the Currimundi Special School as it currently undergoes a major transformation for its students.
The school, which has doubled its enrolments in the past five years, is currently building a new block of 13 classrooms and will need a new all-abilities playground.
To fund the playground and crucial medical equipment to support student needs the Currimundi Special School P and C will host a cocktail party on Saturday, June 9 at the Caloundra Power Boat Club from 7pm.
“This is the first time we have run this event but we’re hoping to make it an annual tradition for our school,” P and C president Kylie Grimley said.
“The school is expanding rapidly with the enrolments having doubled in the last five years, creating a need for additional classrooms and support materials.
“We’re hoping local businesses would consider supporting our school with an auction or raffle prize for the evening.”
Member for Caloundra Mark McArdle encouraged the community to dig deep.
“This really is a great cause and will raise some great funds for some terrific kids,” Mr McArdle said.
“Dust off the cocktail frock and show your support, every ticket counts and the Special School greatly appreciates your support.”
Tickets cost $50 a person for the adult-only event an d can be purchased at https://bit.ly/2IWCYFU.
