A YOUNG musician is living the high-flyer LA lifestyle right here on the Sunshine Coast.

Backing up from his appearance on the national TV show the Voice, Mason Hope has just released his first ever music video alongside new hit, Karmic Resolution.

The 18-year-old produced the single at one of the nation’s highest rated recording facilities, Helipad Studios in Buderim.

The sprawling property has a multitude of studios equipped with industry-leading technology and of course, in true LA style, its very own helicopter landing pad.

The Maroochydore artist features in all production aspects of the song, including lead and backup vocals, guitar, drums and parts of the base.

Alongside producer James Russell, who he has been working with since he was 14, Mason said the new hit and accompanying music video has helped define his new image inspired by music greats R.E.M and Chris Stapleton.

“Now I feel like it’s a little bit more solidified in one specific direction rather than as vague as it was before,” he said.

Mr Russell said the pair had a very re-active relationship throughout the project as they were able to creatively liaise and bounce ideas between each other.

“The process was actually quite quick,” he said.

“It was a lot of fun on the day we did it, I think we did it in like half a day or something, Mason went ‘right I’m playing the drum this is what I want here’ and I was literally just pressing record, he already had his concept,” Mr Russell said.

The video was co-directed by Mr Russell along side Eleshah Jones. He said the concept of the music clip juxtaposes two different scenes, the box in which Mason is trapped and the beautiful outside world.

The video supports the lyrics that portray society’s ignorance to the problems of the world because often individuals are too self-absorbed with their own lives to notice what is happening around them.
