Glad to see barriers

Maroochy Weekly - - NEWS | OPINION -

JUST lately I see the barriers being installed by Qld TMR as a highway safety package.

Since the road’s original upgrade many people have died and badly injured by the lack of barriers. This road from the opening was unlike NSW and VIC was poorly designed with steep drop off on each side.

It was severely criticised by locals, RACQ, etc but TMR and the State Government at the time defended it with gusto. Pity the TMR managers, designers and engineers could not be sued or we would have had a better road from the start.

A few years I have been pushed off this road by a B-double with nowhere to go but was very lucky as the drop off was not as bad in some areas.

I am very glad to see the work carried out if only years later.
