Not Todd’s wurst idea
FORMER Australian beach volleyball player Todd Forrest is preparing to serve up good times by the glass as his Oktoberfest event draws near.
On October 20, all things German will descend upon the sports fields which will be transformed into a giant beer hall and bar, with outdoor beer gardens, traditional German food, music, games, competitions and, of course, a bit of Jagermeister.
Even German car maker Audi has come on as the major sponsor, through the Audi Centre Sunshine Coast.
The team has 10,000 litres of German beer stocked up and another 50 kegs to be shipped over from the Erdinger brewery.
Mr Forrest is hoping there will be more than enough German beer to satisfy the crowd, which he said was looking like it might top 5000 people.
“We’ve had to call for backup because the event is looking like it will be a sell-out,” he said.
The event will cater for families, with an active kids’ zone for those accompanied by an adult.
Mr Forrest said the aim was to keep the event as authentic as possible.
