Proud Lion receives top award
FRANK Dailey and Pam Boyes received McIvor Community Awards at this year’s Heathcote Australia Day ceremony.
Mr Dailey has been an active Lions Club member for many years and was instrumental in forming the Parkerville and District Lions Club in Western Australia in 1988.
Although born in Port Fairy, Victoria, he was lured to Western Australia in 1976 by the promise of warmer weather.
He worked as a landscape gardener in Perth and then for Hammersley Iron in the Pilbara region.
Along with his wife Dianne, he moved to Heathcote in 2007 and transferred to the Heathcote Lions Club.
He has served two terms as president while working full time for Heathcote Health and is currently the president of the Heathcote Lions Estate.
He helped with the landscaping of the Heathcote skate park and has been involved with many other community events, including the annual carols in the park.
Mr Dailey said getting the award was a shock.
“I’d be much more comfortable up the back,” he said.

She was instrumental in the development and implementation of policies and procedures and played a pivotal role in the hospitals annual accreditation.
Her work as a charge nurse and an infection control nurse was just one of many jobs that garnered respect from staff and patients alike.
She developed a close rapport with patients and made home visits to keep in touch with them after discharge.
After her retirement from the hospital in 2006 in she worked at McIvor Medical Centre until 2009.
After this she became involved in activities to promote community wellbeing, including Community Connect and Heathcote Community Capacity Builders.
Mrs Boyes said she was very proud have been nominated and to have won the award.
“I’m proud to be part of a community that has so many amazing and wonderful people who do so many things,” she said.
