Kinder kids are all smiles

IT’S all smiles preschools.

Heath­cote and Axedale Preschool were two of Lod­don Mallee Preschool As­so­ci­a­tion (LMPA) cen­tres who achieved their Smiles 4 Miles award.

The of­fi­cial award cer­e­mony was held on Mon­day with 100 per cent of LMPA cen­tres re­ceiv­ing the award.

The pro­gram sup­ports 1693 chil­dren and their fam­i­lies in the re­gion look af­ter their oral health.

The pro­gram, de­vel­oped by Den­tal Health Ser­vices Vic­to­ria and im­ple­mented in part­ner­ship with Bendigo Health, Echuca Re­gional Health and Swan Hill and District Health, aims to ed­u­cate chil­dren through a va­ri­ety of fun learn­ing ex­pe­ri­ences.

NDIS sup­port is close

IN­TEREACH is gear­ing up to meet the de­mand for the Na­tional Dis­abil­ity In­sur­ance Scheme (NDIS) in the Lod­don Mallee area.

In part­ner­ship with the Na­tional Dis­abil­ity In­sur­ance Agency (NDIA), In­tereach is aim­ing to pro­vide sup­port through the NDIS to about 5300 peo­ple with a dis­abil­ity by 2020.

In De­cem­ber, the In­tereach info van rolled into Heath­cote for an in­for­ma­tion session and will con­tinue to travel through towns across the re­gion un­til May when the new ser­vices will be avail­able.

In­tereach will be open­ing of­fices in Bendigo, Kyne­ton, Echuca, Mary­bor­ough and Castle­maine with more than 70 staff avail­able to help those with the NDIS.
