Pay early for rates dis­count

THE CITY of Greater Bendigo has be­gun send­ing rate no­tices to res­i­dents.

Peo­ple who pay their rates in full by Oc­to­ber 2 will re­ceive a 1.5 per cent dis­count.

To re­ceive the dis­count, any ar­rears out­stand­ing must also be paid in full along with the cur­rent rates and charges and fire ser­vices levy.

Di­rec­tor of cor­po­rate per­for­mance Ker­ryn El­lis said rates were an im­por­tant way to help fund com­mu­nity ser­vices and main­tain and up­grade in­fra- struc­ture such as foot­paths and roads. “If res­i­dents would like to make fur­ther sav­ing, they can down­size their garbage bin and save over $100,” she said.

Garbage and re­cy­cling charges for 2017/18 are:

•120/140 litre garbage bin (in or­gan­ics waste col­lec­tion area) $125.45

•240L garbage bin (in or­gan­ics waste col­lec­tion area) $230.50

•120/140L garbage bin (out­side or­ganic waste col­lec­tion area) $144.80

•240L garbage bin (out­side or­ganic waste col­lec­tion area) $249.90

•Re­cy­cling bin (140L, 240L or 360L) $67.80

•Or­ganic Waste bin (140L or 240L) $87.70

Ratepay­ers who do not pay their rates early can pay in full by Fe­bru­ary 15, 2018 to avoid in­ter­est penal­ties.

Al­ter­na­tively, rates can be paid over four in­stal­ments on Oc­to­ber 2 and Novem­ber 30, 2017, Fe­bru­ary 28 and May 31, 2018.
