Let’s D-feet MND
TEAM Heathcote will be among the hundreds expected flock to Bendigo’s Lake Weeroona in November to raise funds for a worthy cause.
Meg Gleeson, Krystal Eickert and Stacey Yates will lace up and hit the walking track as part of the Bendigo Walk to D-Feet MND
The event aims to raise funds and awareness for MND Victoria in their fight against motor neurone disease.
“Until there is a cure, there is care” is the motto of MND Victoria, who deliver services to 400 Victorians living with MND so they can remain living as independently as possible for as long as possible.
MND Victoria advisor Eric Kelly said MND is an aggressive neurological disease that affects basic functions like movement, speech and breathing.
“MND is a terminal illness,” he said.
“The usual time from diagnosis to death is just over two years.
“There is generally two new cases in Greater Bendigo every year.”
Mr Kelly said the fundraising walk is about promotion and making people aware of the impacts of the disease.
“The equipment require- ments for people with MND are enormous and the requirements for each person are constantly changing,’’ he said.
“It’s vital to keep providing support, advice and information for people suffering from this disease.”
