Hendy, Car­lin too good

FIVE ladies pairs played an am­brose com­pe­ti­tion on a pleas­ant day for golf at Heath­cote Golf Club on Au­gust 30.

Mar­lene Hendy and He­len Car­lin, both play­ing their first golf af­ter long spells, com­bined well to street the field with a score of 90-13-77.

It was lovely to see both ladies back on the track and play­ing with se­ri­ous in­tent. In sec­ond place was the duo of Daphne Hall and Mar­garet Sims, who posted 101-19-82.

On Au­gust 31, the sta­ble­ford event at­tracted 15 starters. Tony Hunter's 38 points earned him first place.

Ball win­ners were: Larry Maxwell 34, David Mor­ris 34, Greg Long 34, Roy Wil­liams 33 and Bryce Pianta 33. Birdie ball went to Kent Davies on the 8th and NTP plus su­per­pin to Daniel Pianta at the last.

On Saturday, pun­ters of both gen­ders come out of hi­ber­na­tion for the first spring com­pe­ti­tion.

The ladies had 10 starters with Dot McGil­livray tak­ing out di­vi­sion one with 32 points.

It was good to see Amanda Long back on the podium in di­vi­sion two with 35 points and Mar­garet Sims was again run­ner-up on 32 points. Tris­ten Wearne won the 8th hole NTP.

The men’s monthly medal took prece­dence over fish­ing with 19 com­peti­tors, in­clud­ing one vis­i­tor, tak­ing part.

Ian Frost shot 71 off scratch and had a hole-in-one on the 16th plus NTP (of course).

How­ever John Blun­dell again showed the young ’uns how to play with his medal win­ning 96-27-69. Great work John! Ball win­ners were the vis­i­tor Marc Chap­pell 86-15-71, Tony Hunter 90-19-71, Garry Boyes 98-26-72, Greg Long 88-15-73, Daniel Pianta 78-5-73, Kent Davies 79-6-73 and David Clous­ton 74-1-73.

NTPs went to Kent Davies (13th and A grade 18th), Adrian King (B grade 18th and su­per­pin) and Rod Bond (C grade 18th). Birdies went to Adrian King (2nd), John Gastin (8th), Mur­ray Green (10th) and Marc Chap­pell (16th) and a par ball went to Martin Sims.

The club would like to ex­tend a big wel­come to new mem­ber Rod Bond who lodged his first hand­i­cap card.
