HEATHCOTE TURNS IT ON FOR A FANTASTIC FESTIVAL

McIvor Times - - FRONT PAGE - By LACHLAN DURLING

THERE was nothing for patrons to whine about at last weekend’s 16th annual Heathcote Wine and Food Festival.

The weekend was a success, with 43 wineries showcasing their stellar Shiraz and beautiful bubbly to a crowd of more than 3,500 patrons from across Victoria.

Visitors were welcome to try award-winning wines from around the area as well as sample the region’s favourite produce from food vendors.

Heathcote Winegrowers’ Association executive officer Chris Earl said that the annual event proved to be a hit.

“It was a great festival this year and it’s one of the largest annual celebrations we have to showcase the local wines,” Mr Earl said.

“The Heathcote wine region is one of the most highly acclaimed for Victorian wines; we’ve been described by Wine Australia as a new jewel in the crown for wine in Victoria.

“Shiraz is our flagship because it’s so much a part of Heathcote’s story, so it’s great to see not only that but also such a diverse range of wines as well as some quite surprising Mediterranean varieties.”
