Long trot to the cut­ting edge

It was an­other big week at Heath­cote Golf Club with the fine weather at­tract­ing keen golfers to the course. Pic­ture above (from left) are men’s divi­sion two win­ner Greg Long, Satur­day ladies win­ner Dot Trott and men’s divi­sion one win­ner Ge­off Cut­ting.

A GOOD field of 13 ladies ar­rived at Heath­cote Golf Club on Wednesday to play a sta­ble­ford which proved to be a lovely spring day.

Regina Driver again played well post­ing 35 points to take out divi­sion one from He­len Car­lin on 34 points.

Con­grat­u­la­tions are ex­tended to Regina on her first win af­ter a sub­stan­tial ab­sence from golf.

Amanda Long was in dom­i­nat­ing form with her best ever com­pe­ti­tion round at Heath­cote and is now very close to break­ing through that magic 100-stroke bar­rier.

Amanda’s 41 points left the divi­sion two field floun­der­ing in her wake with June Roberts se­cur­ing the run­ner-up hon­ours with 31 points. NTPs went to Amanda (8th), Regina (18th hole open) and June (C grade 18th). Thurs­day, November 9: The men played a sta­ble­ford com­pe­ti­tion on Thurs­day with two vis­i­tors join­ing in.

Adrian King’s 37 points won him a divi­sion one win with Ron Blach­ford tak­ing the hon­ours in divi­sion two with 36 points.

Ball win­ners were Son Quach 36, John Blun­dell 35, John Gastin 35, Martin Sims 35 and Stephen Hudson 34. The en­cour­age­ment award went com­fort­ably to Paul Win­tle who fin­ished on 23 points. Satur­day, November 11: Satur­day proved to be the first of a run of hot days and play­ers took to the fair­ways early to beat the hottest part of the day.

Dot Trott put to­gether a lovely round of 38 points to win the event in the ladies from Carol Stu­art on 36 points. Mar­garet Sims won the 8th hole NTP while Carol was clos­est on the 18th.

Greg Long made it a hus­band/wife week with a great round of 40 points that proved best in divi­sion one. Well done, Greg.

Ge­off Cut­ting was the divi­sion two win­ner on 35 points. Balls win­ners were: Mitchell Hogg 39, Alan Sto­baus 39 and David Clous­ton 39.

Adrian Goudie took out the NAGA on a count­back. David birdied the 2nd hole while Greg scored NTP on the 13th plus a birdie.

Alan Sto­baus won NTP on the 16th hole while John Dunn took out the B grade 18th and su­per­pin.

It was great to see Nick Si­doti play­ing his first sin­gles com­pe­ti­tion round and post­ing a very cred­itable 33 points. We hope to see you re­turn in the near fu­ture Nick.

Wel­come back the Fri­day Chicken Run:

The course is now fi­nally open again to both hens and roost­ers this com­ing Fri­day.

All mem­bers, vis­i­tors and so­cial play­ers are very wel­come.

En­try fee is $5 and ei­ther of the nines can be played.

The start­ing time is 3pm, with the prizes be­ing ac­tual frozen chooks for the best score. Com­ing events: Today: Ladies’ sta­ble­ford. To­mor­row: Men’s sta­ble­ford. Fri­day, November 17: All-com­ers 9-hole sta­ble­ford chicken run 3pm start.

Satur­day, November 18: Ladies’ sta­ble­ford 2nd round of the Sum­mer Cham­pi­onships and men’s stroke and monthly medal .
