HEATH­COTE Bowl­ing Club’s divi­sion three re­turned to the win­ner’s list on Satur­day with a huge 52-shot win over North Bendigo.

Divi­sion three: Heath­cote 118 de­feated North Bendigo 66. Brian Tay­lor 25 de­feated D Taig 20 Bill Gar­diner 34 de­feated M Kelly 14

John McGillivray 37 de­feated R Finch 13

Greg Speirs 22 de­feated G Tode­s­chini 19

Brian Tay­lor’s team won the first four ends but then strug­gled with scores level by the 12th end.

Brian’s team then lifted to win the next five ends and de­spite los­ing the last four ends held on to win five shots.

Bill Gar­diner’s team won the first three ends and led by nine shots af­ter 13 ends.

Bill’s team con­tin­ued to dom­i­nate, los­ing only five more ends to record a big 20 shot win.

John McGillivray’s team had an even start but then took con­trol and led by 10 shots by the 13th end.

John’s team only con­ceded three more ends and were vic­to­ri­ous in the fi­nal four ends to notch up a huge 24-shot win.

Greg Speirs’ team strug­gled early on, los­ing five of the first six ends.

The team then ral­lied and trailed by just one shot af­ter 13 ends had been played. From then on scores re­mained close un­til the 19th end when Greg’s team scored a vic­tory and car­ried this for­ward, win­ning the next six ends to record a three-shot win. Divi­sion 6: Heath­cote’s divi­sion six team was not so for­tu­nate, trav­el­ling to Camp­bells Creek and be­ing given a bowl­ing les­son, los­ing by 72 shots.

Eileen O’Brien’s team had an even start with only a shot the dif­fer­ence af­ter 13 ends.

Eileen’s team led by two shots on the 21st end but lost the last four ends to lose by two shots.

Chris Cail’s team also made and even start with scores level on the 6th, 9th, 11th and 13th ends. Chris’s team then strug­gled how­ever, win­ning only four more ends and ul­ti­mately went down by 15 shots.

Denise An­der­son’s team led early and trailed by only three shots af­ter 14 ends.

Un­for­tu­nately, Denise’s team only man­aged to win three more ends and went down by 22 shots.

Basil Kapoulitsa’s team strug­gled from the start and trailed by 12 shots af­ter 13 ends.

De­spite their best ef­forts Basils team could only win 3 more ends and lost by 33 shots.

NOTE: There is no week­end pen­nant next week.

Mid­week Pen­nant Re­sults:

On Mon­day, the Heath­cote ladies trav­elled to play top team White Hills in very warm con­di­tions. Af­ter start­ing well, Heath­cote led by 11 shots at lunch but then strug­gled to go down by just nine shots.

Chris Cail’s team started well and led by seven shots af­ter seven ends.

Af­ter 13 ends how­ever, the teams lead had dwin­dled to three shots and the team strug­gled, win­ning only three more ends to go down by 13 shots over­all.

Eileen O’Brien’s team made an even start with only two shots the dif­fer­ence af­ter 14 ends.

Eileen’s team then strug­gled, win- ning only four more ends to lose by 10 shots.

Denise An­der­son’s team won the first five ends and led by 11 shots by the 16th end.

Denise’s team then shared ends and shots but ul­ti­mately tri­umphed over the op­pos­ing team by 14 shots.

Note: There is no pen­nant play next week with all teams hav­ing a bye.

So­cial Bowls:

On Wednesday, in fine and warm con­di­tions, 17 play­ers en­joyed three games of pairs and triples.

The win­ners were Denise An­der­son (s) and John Hut­son (three wins, 47 points, +6 shots). Run­ners-up were Smokey Dawson (s) and El­lis Knight (two wins and 1 draw, 37 points, +6 shots), from Rod Hanson (s) and Neville Smith (two wins, 32 points, +2 shots).

The jack­pot was not won and will be $200 today.

Note: So­cial Bowls will also be played on Satur­day start­ing at 1pm.
