We’re in the pink

YOU might have seen 27 locals covered in pink and walking around town last week.

No, there hasn’t been a sudden change in fashion sense.

They were supporting the Mother’s Day Classic and breast cancer research.

The group consisted of Gym 3523 members, and led by owner Amber Tavinor they walked 3km to raise just shy of $500 to go towards cancer research.

“Some of our ladies have been touched by cancer themselves but most of them have a close family member or friend who has been affected,” Amber said.

“I participated in the walk in Bendigo a few years ago, but this is the first time as a gym we have done it.

“It runs every Mother’s Day, however lots of these ladies are mums or grandmas and a lot of us were not able to attend on that day — so we brought it to Heathcote.

“The majority of the group were members from our seniors classes that have been running since we opened and run twice a week.”
