Locals outdoor exercising en masse

Melville Times - - Street Watch -

THE City of Melville’s Active in the Park outdoor fitness classes continue to be a hit, with over 3000 people attending at least one session during the 2016-17 season.

In a sign of the popularity of the free sessions, the initiative was included in The Urban List’s top 10 outdoor fitness classes in Perth.

First launched as Healthy Melville in November 2015, increasing demand meant two free fitness classes grew to five by October last year.

Active in the Park classes include functional fitness, yoga, Tunes for Tots, PlayFit for kids and Active Light classes, held in the City’s parks and led by professional fitness trainers from the City’s LeisureFit centres.

The spring/summer timetable concludes at the end of March due to weather and light conditions, but PlayFit and Active Light classes will resume in the first week of May and all other classes will return in October 2017.
