MA­JOR Crime de­tec­tives have re­newed ap­peals for any in­for­ma­tion about the mur­der of Melville grand­mother Va­le­ria Fer­mend­jin. Mrs Fer­mend­jin was killed in her Leach High­way home be­tween 7.20am and 8.30am on Tues­day, Jan­uary 5, last year. Po­lice still hope to speak to a cou­ple (pic­tured) be­lieved to have walked past the 70-year-old's home around the time it is be­lieved she died. They are also ask­ing a male caller who con­tacted Crime Stop­pers anony­mously on March 13, about 12.40pm, to get back in touch with po­lice af­ter pro­vid­ing in­for­ma­tion that proved help­ful to de­tec­tives. An­other caller who con­tacted Crime Stop­pers soon af­ter the mur­der on Jan­uary 13 last year is also asked to get back in touch with po­lice.
