Ewan picked for WA squad
MELVILLE talent Ewan Nielson has been rewarded for a standout performance in the School Sport Australia 15 and Under National Championships with selection to the Cricket Australia Under-16s squad.
Nielson was WA’s leading wicket-taker at the championships with eight scalps from four games, including a fivewicket haul against ACT.
The 14-player Australian squad features some of the best talent from the tournament, as chosen by the Youth Selection Panel, plus four standby players.
Nielson is joined in the squad by fellow WA product Michael Herbst, who claimed four wickets in four games.
South-West youngster Jayden Goodwin, son of former WA and Zimbabwe batsman Murray, scored 152 runs and has been selected as a standby.
