A FIREARM was found on a man arrested after crashing a vehicle into a streetlight during a short pursuit in South Lake. Police were conducting patrols in the suburb just before 8.30am on September 21 when they spotted a Holden Commodore at the intersection of South Lake Drive and Elderberry Drive. The driver accelerated heavily and lost control of the vehicle before crashing into a streetlight on Berrigan Drive. Officers arrested a 28-year-old Balga man in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Police said further inquiries revealed the vehicle was stolen and had false registration plates linked to stealing offences from fuel stations. The man faces various charges. He was remanded in custody ahead of a second appearance in Fremantle Magistrates Court on October 13.
