A FIREARM was found on a man ar­rested after crash­ing a ve­hi­cle into a street­light dur­ing a short pur­suit in South Lake. Po­lice were con­duct­ing pa­trols in the sub­urb just be­fore 8.30am on Septem­ber 21 when they spot­ted a Holden Com­modore at the in­ter­sec­tion of South Lake Drive and Elder­berry Drive. The driver ac­cel­er­ated heav­ily and lost con­trol of the ve­hi­cle be­fore crash­ing into a street­light on Ber­ri­gan Drive. Of­fi­cers ar­rested a 28-year-old Balga man in pos­ses­sion of a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion. Po­lice said fur­ther inquiries re­vealed the ve­hi­cle was stolen and had false reg­is­tra­tion plates linked to steal­ing of­fences from fuel sta­tions. The man faces var­i­ous charges. He was re­manded in cus­tody ahead of a sec­ond ap­pear­ance in Fre­man­tle Mag­is­trates Court on Oc­to­ber 13.
