HE has taken in the sights and sounds of countries the world over, but for Soa Palelei “there’s nothing like home”.
The South Lake MMA athlete-turned actor, author and public speaker has expanded his outlook after forging a reputable career competing as a heavyweight in the UFC, Pride and Impact Fighting Championships.
But despite taking in the bright lights of the arena, playing poker with Arnold Schwarzenegger or shooting new films, Palelei said one of the most isolated cities in the world remained important to him and his family.
“I’ve travelled all around the world training and competing and there’s nothing like coming home,” he said.
“It’s good to travel, to see what other cultures and countries have but Perth is a great hub.”
Palelei, or “The Hulk” as he is known within the MMA community, said his family, including his two children, loved to visit Perth’s pristine beaches, as well as another spot popular with tourists and locals alike – Kings Park. “Just standing there overlooking Perth City, you know how lucky we
are,” he said.
