IT’S NO ‘BEAT-UP’

Melville Times - - Opinion -

UNBELIEVABLY, Helen Maynier, wife of Alfred Cove Action Group convener David Maynier, has been cautioned for illegal clearing of vegetation in front of their riverfront home.

Helen claims she was ‘weeding;’ however I’d beg to differ – cutting off branches of native trees and applying herbicides in an A-Class nature reserve is an act of vandalism.

Mrs Maynier apparently climbed over a fence to access the area, and was careful to conduct her ‘weeding’ in the early hours of the morning.

The branches removed from the site were not weeds.

Both David and Helen have a very clear understanding of the area, and every law-abiding citizen knows not to take matters into their own hands.

David Maynier claims this is just a ‘beat up’ by the City of Melville to discredit him, but I think David and Helen have done an excellent job of doing that all by themselves. CRAIG CADDY Melville
