THE Melville Bowls and Community Club held a Melbourne Cup luncheon.

There president Gary McCormic, publicly observed that “Yes, this is a social community centre that plays bowls”.

By far the most attendees at the luncheon were social and community members, and not pennant bowlers. It would have been good for councillors to hear that they are planning to close down two important social community centres.

The recent council elections did send a message that people are not happy with the council.

In two years, at the next council elections, there could be another message from the electors.

What does it take for the council to wake up and realise that they are going against the wishes of the electors and the community? KARL KELERS Alfred Cove
