Dominant D’Arcy dig
MELVILLE is up against it after conceding 322 runs on day 1 of its round 6 Premier Cricket clash with Willetton on Saturday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Willetton rarely missed a beat at Burrendah Reserve.
D’Arcy Short anchored the innings with 125 from 174 deliveries, with more than half his runs scored in boundaries.
Willetton’s number 3 crunched 18 fours during his three-hour stay at the crease.
Kallen Bond and Will Rhodes continued to frustrate the Melville bowlers once Short was dismissed, scoring 38 and 37 respectively late in the innings.
Melville’s Mark Turner was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets and a terrific run-out.
Among his haul of 3-53 was opener Iszak Milentis and lower-order batsmen Prad Gunaratne and Brennan Wilson.
