Bound for Antarctica
A BICTON local will leave an Australian summer for the coldest climate on Earth after being selected to participate in the 2019 Homeward Bound program.
The leadership, strategic and science initiative, which takes participants all the way to Antarctica, aims to heighten the influence and impact of women with a science background in decisions that impact the world.
Lecturer Lesley Sefcik was chosen for the 2019 program and will depart in December.
“As a strong feminist, teacher, motherof-three and environmental activist, I will be championing the idea that we are all responsible for making decisions toward a more ecologically and equitable future for our planet,” she said.
“We must not wait for current governments and corporations to do this for us.”
