City pro­motes pub­lic trans­port

THE City of Fre­man­tle strate­gic plan­ning and trans­port com­mit­tee has pro­moted an ad­vo­cacy po­si­tion to pro­mote pub­lic trans­port be­tween Fre­man­tle city centre and ad­join­ing ar­eas. The of­fi­cial po­si­tion will go to coun­cil to make a fi­nal de­ci­sion. In a re­port to coun­cil, City of­fi­cers pro­moted “des­ig­na­tion of the high pri­or­ity tran­sit cor­ri­dor be­tween Fre­man­tle city centre and Mur­doch along South Street as a light rail route”. They also pro­moted “iden­ti­fi­ca­tion of the cor­ri­dor be­tween Fre­man­tle city centre and Cock­burn cen­tral as a route for pas­sen­ger rail within stage 2 of Metronet”.
