Entrepreneur makes her mark
ERIN Madeley’s efforts to give people who make handmade items a platform through the Perth Makers Market have been recognised.
The Wilson resident was runner-up in the Handmade Business section of AusMumpreneur Awards in Melbourne on August 31.
“As an entrepreneur, I call on the support of my family as they all pitch in, especially on market weekends,” she said. “I’ve got more flexibility compared to my previous incarnation as an office worker.”
Mrs Madeley said she created the Perth Makers Market to bring a spotlight on to the handmade community.
“Our first market was in February 2016 when we had 75 stalls and about 1500 people attend but now we have over 150 stalls and 4500 people check us out each time,” she said.
“We run the market six times per year, three at the start of the year and three at the end. We survey people who attend and people comment on the friendly vibe and the great location.
“We have anything and everything from woodworks, candles, rugs and homewares.”
