3 STAGES TO WATCH
STAGE 12 Pau / Peyragudes July 13
If you enjoy watching pro athletes suffer, then this 214km slog through the Pyrenees will fit the bill nicely. The final climb to the finish line hits grades of 16%. That’s death to lactic-filled quads.
STAGE 17 La Mure / Serre-chevalier July 19
This 183km stage includes the notorious climb up the 2645m Col du Galibier. According to Tour de France founder Henri Desgrange, all other climbs are “gnat’s piss” compared to Galibier. He wasn’t joking.
STAGE 20 Marseille July 22
A 22.5km individual time trial on the penultimate day of the Tour? C’est magnifique! If the hunt for the yellow jersey’s still on, it will be decided on the cobbled roads of this ancient port city.
