As Father’s Day approaches, so does a profound sense of loss for many children, women and men whose dads are lost to them for various reasons. Those of us who have experienced the ballast of unconditional paternal love throughout our lives are indeed blessed. Today, we share three from-the-heart stories by two daughters and a son. Writer Susan Oong, who was three when her mother died, was raised by her dad Henry. “For so long, the story has always been about what happened to my mum and the loss that we felt,” she says. “It was hardly ever on Dad and what remained. Their stories are so intertwined. It was nice to be able to prise aside Dad’s story for this piece and focus on all that he did for us.” Thank you, dear fathers. Have a happy day tomorrow.
