Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway … and on goes the growing list of nations that have legalised same-sex marriage, giving full recognition and rights to couples entering into such unions. As the marriage equality debate rages here, Sally Glaetzer hit the streets of Hobart to talk to young Tasmanians – from thoughtful gay teenagers to fundamental Christians – on the vexed and emotive issue of institutional discrimination facing our LGBTI communities. Also this week, our columnist Don Knowler writes about finding a new lease of life on the slopes of kunanyi/Mount Wellington, and we dip into the fascinating world of Natasha Cica in her role at one of the nation’s top cultural spaces.
