Hope for unity
IT is pleasing to see spiced up and colourful aldermen comprising the “new look” Hobart City Council.
Fingers crossed that the aldermen will not stand divided towards the judicious development of a cable car going to the top of kunanyi/Mt Wellington.
The project certainly will create permanent jobs, in turn reducing unemployment and bringing money into the community.
The mountain is a natural asset to be enjoyed by all, locals and the tourists. Let’s hope common sense is not dead.
Listen to the people
PROTECTING kunanyi/Mt Wellington and finalising the Hobart City deal ( Mercury, November 1) are Anna Reynolds’s goals. Anna, you need to recognise you are a representative of your area elected to represent their views not your personal opinion.
Listen to the people and represent them or we will end up with another dysfunctional council.
Mount Disneyland
WHAT was once touted as a means to reach the summit of kunanyi/Mt Welling- Nurses being pushed to the limit The staff need to stop and refuse to do the overtime. They are making the crisis look better than what it is. Stop propping up the system so all can see how bad the situation really is.
Beware the bucket list
STEWART Edwards writes that “a huge proportion of tourists have a visit to the pinnacle” of Mount Wellington on their bucket list.” ( Mercury, November 7).
I understand a bucket list is things you would like to do before death.
Perhaps their desire to complete such a bucket list may be ended sooner than they anticipated should the cable car be adversely affected by strong winds and storms that the mountain often experiences.
Boggling minds
PAULINE Hanson and Mark Latham together in the same party — the mind boggles!
New broom
WITH the new broom in Hobart council perhaps we will see the start of the Battery Point walkway.
