Elton writes new song for film

ELTON John and long-time writing partner Bernie Taupin have written a new song for Rocketman, the film that follows their friendship, and the singer’s career and private life.

The pair haven’t recorded the untitled number yet, but if director Dexter Fletcher, the film’s producers and Paramount studio are happy with it, it will be used over the end credits.

Taron Egerton plays the Royal Academy of Music student whose love of Elvis helped turn him into an unlikely rock god.

Egerton sings several songs in the film including Honky Cat and Tiny Dancer.

Bennie And The Jets and Crocodile Rock also feature.

Jamie Bell portrays Taupin, with Bodyguard and Game Of Thrones star Richard Madden playing John Reid, Elton’s manager and former lover.
