BIKE RIDE TURNS 21

CY­CLISTS in the Swan Valley will cel­e­brate a mile­stone an­niver­sary for Bike in the Valley this Sun­day.

The an­nual event will cel­e­brate its 21st an­niver­sary with cy­clists from all over Perth tak­ing part in a 9km, 23km and 34km ride.

The event is free and caters to all fit­ness lev­els, with a “sag wagon” sup­port ve­hi­cle to help any­one who needs as­sis­tance.

City of Swan Mayor Mick Wain­wright said more than 400 rid­ers at­tended last year’s event.

“It is a fun fam­ily event that tra­di­tion­ally at­tracts rid­ers from all ages, from tod­dlers on bike seats to cy­clists who are al­most 90 years old,” he said.

“Au­tumn is also a great time to visit the Swan Valley on two wheels, with the ideal weather, green­ery and pad­docks of an­i­mals to ad­mire dur­ing the ride.”

The cir­cu­lar ride starts and fin­ishes at West Swan Oval, where there will also be a Bike Doc­tor Clinic, cof­fee van and sausage sizzle avail­able.

The three routes will be marked and key cor­ners will be manned by mar­shals to en­sure rid­ers stay on track.

Reg­is­tra­tions open at 9am at West Swan oval, with the ride start­ing at 10am.
