Enjoy pint for a cause
A HARD-earned beer at the end of the work week could do more than quench your thirst if poured from the Guildford Hotel’s community keg.
The James Street venue’s good deeds initiative is raising funds for nominated charities and community groups each Friday night.
All proceeds from every $8 pint from the community keg will be donated to a chosen cause.
The brew, as well as the cause, will rotate and recently began with Feral Brewing supporting the Swan Districts Women’s Team.
Funds made from the Baskerville drop will support the club’s Female Football Pathways Program to encourage participation, education and to develop young female coaches.
It will help them buy elite training equipment and appoint specialised coaches, as well as hold a Women’s Game Day at Bassendean Oval.
Team captain Kara Donnellan said the development of the younger players was extremely important to the club.
“Obviously with the new AFL Women’s League we want as many players drafted as possible,” she said.
“It’s fantastic that the Guildford Hotel is giving back to the community and it’s just fantastic to be part of it and we’re very thankful as a football club and the women’s team side of it.”
The hotel wants to support local causes that need “a little love”, including an individual, project, business, club or event.
