Only two games at Dorrien
THE official home ground of Perth Glory’s women’s team, Dorrien Gardens in West Perth, will host just two games this season after three W-League blockbusters were scheduled for Perth Oval.
The big match-ups set for Perth’s premier rectangular stadium include a grand final rematch under lights against Melbourne City to open the season on October 27.
Other games at the stadium include a Sunday afternoon clash against Melbourne Victory on November 19 and a late night game on January 28 against Western Sydney Wanderers to round out the regular season.
At Dorrien Gardens, Glory will host Brisbane Roar in a festive season encounter on December 29 and Sydney in their first home game of 2018, on January 14.
Glory’s remaining home fixture, against last year’s minor premiers Canberra, will be played in Bunbury.
Coach Bobby Despetovski said the team was looking forward to playing games at the bigger venue.
“Four of our first six games are away from home, but we’ll adjust to that and play the best we can,” he said.
“We are all really looking forward to it.”
The former Glory striker expected his players would enjoy playing at each of the three home venues set to stage W-League games this year.
“Perth Oval is the best A-League stadium in the country and it’s always a buzz to go there,” he said.
“But we’re also really happy to play at Dorrien Gardens which is another great ground.”
