Child in front for car chase
POLICE have charged a 31-year-old man after a car chase through several suburbs – while a four-year-old was travelling unrestrained in the front seat.
Officers allegedly tried to stop a Holden Acclaim on Kalamunda Road in High Wycombe on November 2 at 9.50pm.
Police lost sight of the car, but pulled it over when they saw it again on Ridge Hill Road in Gooseberry Hill.
However, when the police officers got out of their car to speak with the driver, he allegedly sped away from them.
A chase took place through several suburbs including Helena Valley and Midland, before a tyre deflation device set up on Bushmead Road in Bellevue stopped the car. The man ran from the car but was caught nearby.
Officers then found that the 31-year-old female passenger had an unrestrained four-yearold child on her lap while travelling in the front seat.
Police say they found a short hand axe hidden under the driver’s seat during a search.
The man was charged with offences including reckless driving to escape pursuit by police and no authority to drive.
