Govt funds avail­able for bridge fixes

Coun­cils in Du­rack can ap­ply for fund­ing to fix lo­cal bridges in poor con­di­tion af­ter a new round of fund­ing opened on Fri­day, March 17.

Mem­ber for Du­rack Melissa Price said it was a great op­por­tu­nity to have age­ing bridges fixed with up to half the cost met by the Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment un­der its Bridges Re­newal Pro­gramme.

Coun­cils have been en­cour­aged to dis­cuss pri­or­i­ties with their lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties, in­dus­try stake­hold­ers, Regional De­vel­op­ment Aus­tralia com­mit­tees and rel­e­vant gov­ern­ment road agen­cies.

“Res­i­dents who might like to put for­ward their ideas should get in touch with their coun­cil,” Ms Price said.

Suc­cess­ful ap­pli­cants are el­i­gi­ble to re­ceive up to 50 per cent of project costs, or $5 mil­lion in fund­ing.
