Nurse visit brings Parkin­son’s ex­per­tise

A spe­cial­ist nurse will call in to Jurien Bay and Moora next week to sup­port lo­cal pa­tients liv­ing with Parkin­son’s dis­ease.

Parkin­son’s nurse spe­cial­ist Fiona Roscoe from Parkin­son’s WA will un­der­take in-home vis­its on Monday and Tues­day.

Parkin­son’s WA chief ex­ec­u­tive Brenda Matthews said they tried to or­gan­ise vis­its as reg­u­larly as pos­si­ble.

“We also take the op­por­tu­nity to utilise this time to sup­port health pro­fes­sion­als in the area with new knowl­edge and skills that will be use­ful for them in the in­terim,” she said.

In WA, it’s es­ti­mated more than 20,000 peo­ple are af­fected by Parkin­son’s. Parkin­son’s WA also pro­vide re­gional ar­eas with link-ups to health pro­fes­sion­als.

“It is a plea­sure to be making these vis­its to Moora Hos­pi­tal, Jurien Bay Health Cen­tre, Jurien Bay RSL Care WA, in ad­di­tion to vis­it­ing a num­ber of lo­cal peo­ple di­ag­nosed with Parkin­son’s in their homes,” Ms Roscoe said.
