Hawks book spot in grand fi­nal against Chap­man Val­ley

Brigades 14s won a palm-sweat­ing sec­ond pre­lim­i­nary fi­nal against Rovers last Satur­day, 9.4 (58) to 8.7 (55), earn­ing them­selves a place in the 2017 Great North­ern Ju­nior Foot­ball League grand fi­nal.

Rovers got off to a good start, get­ting ahead in the first half but this turned around af­ter half-time as the Hawks kicked eight goals in the third and nine goals in the last quar­ter.

The Hawks claimed a three-point vic­tory and will now play Chap­man Val­ley in the grand fi­nal next week­end.

In the 16s pre­lim­i­nary fi­nal, Rail­ways got ahead early in the first quar­ter, kick­ing four goals to Brigades’ two.

Rail­ways’ Jack Os­borne had a stel­lar game, kick­ing four goals for the game, fol­lowed by Shaedan Ed­wards and Cal­lum Teakle with two each.

Re­main­ing ahead the whole game, the Blues se­cured a 23-point win over Brigades, 12.10 (82) to 9.5 (59), and will face Chap­man Val­ley in the grand fi­nal next week­end. The grand fi­nals are this Satur­day at the WA Coun­try Builders Sta­dium.

The 14s will play at 9am and the 16s will play at 11am with the pre­sen­ta­tions at 1.15pm in the clu­b­rooms.
