Students bring Annie to stage

Midwest Times - - ENTERTAINMENT - Francesca Mann

A team of talented youths will hit the main stage this Saturday for two performances of the musical Annie at Queens Park Theatre.

Annie will be performed by the Creative Works Youth Theatre, which features about 35 students from 12 schools, aged from seven to 18.

The musical transports the audience to the New York Municipal Girls Orphanage in 1922, where the optimistic Annie (played by Emmy Silvester) dreams of finding her parents.

Fed up of having to put up with the cruel Miss Hannigan (played by Grace Fisher), Annie decides to escape and begins searching for her family.

Paula Wilkinson, who runs the theatre group, said the students will put on an excellent show.

“There are absolutely stars in the making,” she said. The group will perform Annie at 2pm and 7pm.

Tickets can be purchased at the box office or www.qpt.cgg.wa.gov.au.
