Al­leged sand­wich thief will face court

A Mount Mag­net man who al­legedly stole a num­ber of chicken sand­wiches from a Meekatharra ser­vice sta­tion will face court later this month charged with a string of of­fences.

The 22-year-old faces charges re­lat­ing to two other bur­glar­ies, steal­ing of­fences, and us­ing stolen credit cards.

Po­lice will al­lege he broke into the Shell Ex­press on the Great Northern High­way in Meekatharra about 4am last Thurs­day.

He is also ac­cused of break­ing into a Trin­field Court prop­erty in Meekatharra the same morn­ing, but noth­ing was re­ported stolen.

Meekatharra po­lice will al­lege he broke into a Toowong Street prop­erty in Bayswa­ter on Septem­ber 19 and stole a hand­bag con­tain­ing credit cards, which he then al­legedly used to buy cig­a­rettes.

He has also been ac­cused of steal­ing from a Bassendean liquor store on two sep­a­rate oc­ca­sions.

Po­lice ar­rested the man in Meekatharra after a tip-off from the pub­lic.

He was re­manded in cus­tody and charged with two counts of ag­gra­vated burglary, two counts of burglary, two counts of steal­ing, two counts of fraud, and one count of burglary with in­tent to steal.

He will face Carnar­von Mag­is­trate’s Court via video link from Gree­nough Re­gional Prison on Oc­to­ber 23.
