Get ready to jive at 50s dance
Tapping into the era of Marilyn Monroe, the Chevrolet Corvette, and the setting of Grease, the Inner Wheel Club of Geraldton is encouraging the community to wash their bobby socks and slick back their hair in preparation for a 50s music-inspired dance on Saturday.
There will be raffles and prizes to be won on the night, combined with entertainment from Sax & the Single Girl.
The Jailhouse Rock-themed event will double as a fundraiser for Inner Wheel Australia’s national project Cord Blood Research.
Club social convener Margaret Pike said so far, all the Inner Wheel Clubs combined have raised more than $2 million for the cause.
“The whole idea of the night is for people to come and have fun and help us fundraise for Cord Blood Research,” Mrs Pike said.
“We’re really passionate about medical research and we have contributed to about 40 research grants.”
Everybody in the whole cell block, will be dancing to the Jailhouse Rock at Waggrakine Hall this Saturday from 7.30pm.
A limousine bus ride at a cost of $5 each way will be available at pick-up points Puma, Tarcoola, at 7pm, Cutler & Smith at 7.10pm and the Wintersun at 7.20pm.
Two return trips will leave Waggrakine Hall at 10.45pm and 11.45pm.
Entry to the event is $15 at the door.
