Get ready to jive at 50s dance

Tap­ping into the era of Mar­i­lyn Mon­roe, the Chevro­let Corvette, and the set­ting of Grease, the In­ner Wheel Club of Ger­ald­ton is en­cour­ag­ing the com­mu­nity to wash their bobby socks and slick back their hair in prepa­ra­tion for a 50s mu­sic-in­spired dance on Satur­day.

There will be raf­fles and prizes to be won on the night, com­bined with en­ter­tain­ment from Sax & the Sin­gle Girl.

The Jail­house Rock-themed event will dou­ble as a fundraiser for In­ner Wheel Aus­tralia’s na­tional project Cord Blood Re­search.

Club so­cial con­vener Mar­garet Pike said so far, all the In­ner Wheel Clubs com­bined have raised more than $2 mil­lion for the cause.

“The whole idea of the night is for peo­ple to come and have fun and help us fundraise for Cord Blood Re­search,” Mrs Pike said.

“We’re re­ally pas­sion­ate about med­i­cal re­search and we have con­trib­uted to about 40 re­search grants.”

Ev­ery­body in the whole cell block, will be danc­ing to the Jail­house Rock at Wag­grakine Hall this Satur­day from 7.30pm.

A limou­sine bus ride at a cost of $5 each way will be avail­able at pick-up points Puma, Tar­coola, at 7pm, Cut­ler & Smith at 7.10pm and the Win­ter­sun at 7.20pm.

Two re­turn trips will leave Wag­grakine Hall at 10.45pm and 11.45pm.

En­try to the event is $15 at the door.
