Yalgoo named a Tidy Town
The residents of Yalgoo have earned themselves the 2017 Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities General Appearance award after a continuing town-wide effort to keep the neighbourhood clean and litter free.
Yalgoo Shire chief executive Silvio Brenzi said community efforts have resulted in several additions to the town, including new stone pathways, colourful mosaics, fruit trees, shaded seating and vegetable beds.
“This year the Yalgoo community, from young children and MEEDAC workers, to school and Shire employees, have been working hard to improve the appearance of the Shire’s community hall,” he said.
“Due to frequent clean-ups and litter education, the street is litter free and the nature strips are well maintained.
“This is recognition of which the whole Yalgoo community can be proud.”
The Tidy Towns award acknowledges regional towns that sustain their cleanliness, environment, infrastructure and overall aesthetics.
