Repeater device warning

Midwest Times - - NEWS -

Horrocks residents have been warned against illegal use of mobile repeater devices, which can weaken Telstra’s signal for those nearby.

The devices, which are used to improve mobile phone reception, require a licence to operate.

Telstra conducted an investigation and warned residents found to be using the devices illegally.

Telstra area general manager Boyd Brown said the devices could cause significant reception issues for others.

“People use these devices to improve their own mobile signal, however, they may not realise that they’re interfering with the mobile coverage for the wider community,” he said.

“There are very serious consequences.”
