Shire councillor ready to be sworn in

Midwest Times - - NEWS - Geoff Vivian

Northampton Shire has a new councillor after a by-election on Saturday.

Port Gregory resident Timothy Hay scored 52 votes, comfortably beating Alan Walker, of Northampton, who attracted 23.

Mr Hay is expected to be sworn in at the February council meeting.

Unusually, the by-election was held because not enough candidates had nominated for the October local government elections. As a result, all candidates were declared elected unopposed, leaving the unexpected vacancy.
