Best of city’s busi­nesses praised at pres­ti­gious gongs

The win­ners of Spirit Ra­dio and Red FM’s an­nual Best of Ger­ald­ton Awards were an­nounced last week.

Com­mu­nity mem­bers had a chance to pick some of their favourite things in Ger­ald­ton across 10 cat­e­gories.

Hogs Breath Cafe was the only mul­ti­ple award win­ner on the night, tak­ing home awards for best restau­rant/eatery and best cus­tomer ser­vice for the sec­ond year in a row.

The reign­ing cham­pion of Ger­ald­ton’s best cof­fee, Culi­nary HQ, was de­throned for the first time in four years, with the award go­ing to Dome cafe.

The Ger­ald­ton Gree­nough Sun­shine Fes­ti­val was named the best lo­cal event for sec­ond year in a row, knock­ing out the City of Greater Ger­ald­ton’s in­au­gu­ral Wind on Water Fes­ti­val and Aus­tralia Day event.

The Rigters Su­per­mar­ket Group once again cleaned up in the best su­per­mar­ket category.

Won­thella SUPA IGA and Rigters SUPA IGA were both fi­nal­ists, with the ti­tle handed to Queens SUPA IGA.

Mid­west Char­ity Be­gins at Home took out the top spot for best not-for-profit, knock­ing out last year’s win­ner, Ger­ald­ton Dog Res­cue.

The best builder award stayed with WA Coun­try Builders and Chemist Ware­house was named Ger­ald­ton’s Best Chemist.

Ger­ald­ton Prop­erty Team took home the best real es­tate award while South­side Me­chan­i­cal picked up the award for Best Me­chanic.

The best pub award went to the Ger­ald­ton Ho­tel, which was host­ing the awards night.
