Mul­tiskilled ath­lete in­vited

Midwest Times - - FRONT PAGE - Multi-ta­lented Judd Morris, who also plays cricket and foot­ball, is poised to show off his skill with a soc­cer ball this Novem­ber.

A Carnar­von ath­lete with tal­ents span­ning soc­cer, foot­ball and cricket has been in­vited to play for the Gold Fields Un­der 15 Boys Re­gional State Squad, com­pet­ing against in­ter­na­tional soc­cer teams for the Phuket Cup in Thai­land.

Judd Morris, 15, is part of a trove of Mid West play­ers vy­ing for the cup, in­clud­ing un­der-13s Gold Fields squad mem­ber Tadi­w­nashe Kagu­ra­mamba, of Ger­ald­ton.

Run­ning two weeks ear­lier will be com­pe­ti­tion for the Singa Cup, likely to fea­ture Ger­ald­ton play­ers Mac Hoefhamer, Toben Car­pen­ter, Charli Lay­ton, Daisy Her­ring and Olivia Bid­well.

Judd’s fam­ily is rais­ing money to fund the over­seas trip, which Judd and oth­ers were se­lected for af­ter im­press­ing scouts at the 2017 coun­try week.

All ris­ing stars were in­vited to a four-day coun­try camp in April.

The Phuket Cup will kick off on Novem­ber 26 and run un­til De­cem­ber 3.

The WA boys’ squad for the Singa Cup in Sin­ga­pore will com­pete from Novem­ber 2 to 9, while the girls’ squad will com­pete from Novem­ber 3 to 10.
