PUB­LIC IN­FOR­MA­TION SES­SIONS AND WORK­SHOP ON COST RE­COV­ERY

The Gov­ern­ment of West­ern Aus­tralia has an­nounced that fees will be charged to re­cover some of the costs re­lat­ing to the pro­vi­sion of wa­ter li­cens­ing and en­vi­ron­men­tal reg­u­la­tion. The Gov­ern­ment also agreed that ad­di­tional rev­enue raised by in­creased fees will be rein­vested in the Depart­ment of Wa­ter and En­vi­ron­men­tal Reg­u­la­tion to im­prove reg­u­la­tory ser­vice de­liv­ery and ef­fi­ciency.

A dis­cus­sion pa­per—avail­able at dwer.wa.gov.au/con­sul­ta­tion/costre­cov­ery—has been pre­pared to in­form and guide pub­lic con­sul­ta­tion on po­ten­tial fur­ther changes to the depart­ment’s cost re­cov­ery ap­proach for per­mits to clear na­tive veg­e­ta­tion and wa­ter li­cences and per­mits.

As part of the 12-week pub­lic con­sul­ta­tion process, the depart­ment is host­ing a cost re­cov­ery in­for­ma­tion and work­shop ses­sion in Ger­ald­ton on 10 Oc­to­ber 2018.
