Foster pockets five straight
For the fifth time in a row, local Luke Foster has taken home the Great Northern 8 Ball Association’s 2018 Pirtek Open after a convincing comeback from the fifth-place spot recorded after a disappointing round robin.
The seasoned player and captain of the State team has boasted a place in seven of the past eight grand finals and has continued to defeat his adversaries comfortably.

McMahon placed equal third with Luke Anglesey while Adrian Lancaster, Marcello, Stone Stenhouse and Mandar Ranganekar were equal fifth. Equal ninth were Simon Gray, Matty Gilmore, Marchiandi Hami and Jacob Sumner while Kyle Van Zon, Danny Weavers, Rebecca O’Mara and David Collingridge stood at equal 13th.
The B-grade game between Danny Weavers and Rebecca O’Mara resulted in a win for Weavers while the match between Marchi Hami and Holly Va’aelua ended with Hami victorious.
In the C-grade, Dylan Moyes defeated Suzie Gibbs and Trevor Gray took out Shane Casselton.
Moyes and Gray faced each other in the grand final, leading Moyes to take home the title. Noel Brennan defeated Darren Janitz in the consolation plate.
