Teen eyes Thai glory
Multi-talented Carnarvon athlete Judd Morris was five when he started playing soccer, and with 10 years of kicking under his belt, he is ready to jump on the world stage and conquer his first international tournament.
Judd will join the Gold Fields Under 15s Regional State Squad in Thailand this November, a WA team vying for the Phuket Cup.
Carnarvon’s soccer season has finished, but the 15-year-old said his other sporting activities were sure to keep him active, particularly cricket, with the summer season due to start soon.
Judd, who also plays football for the Gascoyne Hawks, said he always got asked what sport he enjoyed most and he liked them all too much to pick.
He is, however, excited for a bout of overseas soccer, a firsttime experience for him.
“I’m looking forward to playing at an elite level and the experience of playing overseas against better teams,” the Carnarvon Community College student said.
“Mum and Dad are super proud and supportive of all my achievements.”
Judd was selected for the State squad after he impressed scouts at the 2017 country week.
After high school, Judd plans to become a professional athlete like his idol, Brazilian soccer great Neymar da Silva Santos Junior, commonly known as Neymar.
The Phuket Cup begins on November 26 and ends on December 3.
