West Australians have opened their hearts and their wallets, raising $38,000,554 for sick children during Telethon Weekend 2018.

The money will go towards grants to hospitals, medical facilities and not-for-profit organisations — in turn funding the latest equipment, medical and research facilities, and therapy programs.

Meanwhile, students and staff at Dongara District High School got into the spirit early this year, raising more than $500 for sick West Aussie kids.

On August 10, more than 400 teachers and students from kindy to Year 12 wore their pyjamas or a piece of blue clothing for a gold coin donation.

Principal Janine Calver said the school community was delighted to have been able to contribute to the charity.

“We are very proud of the success of this school community fundraiser and how our student council have demonstrated outstanding social awareness,” she said.
