Country boy makes the cut

A Geraldton firefighter thought a 2019 calendar featuring Perth’s best-looking fireys needed a bit of country flair, so he applied to the selection committee.

His application was successful and now the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service’s Dan Golding has made the cut — and his mother Michele couldn’t be prouder.

“He’s got a really caring, personality, a good nature and that’s not just coming from his mum,” she said.

“When he came home and told us, I was like ‘wow’ — we were all that excited.

“My friends are always telling me ‘ make sure you get me a calendar’.”

Sales of the Perth Firefighters Calendar support the burns unit at Perth Children’s Hospital.

The 2019 calendar features 14 firefighters and Mr Golding can be found in the month of November.

He will shortly be given a number of calendars to sell at a local shopping centre.

Since the fundraiser started in 2008, more than $1 million has been raised for the burns unit.
